- Whisper-quiet dual motor — doesn't wake a sleeping roommate at 7am
- 26" of height travel fits a 5'0" to 6'5" range of users
- Bamboo top resists water rings better than the laminate version we tested first
- Crossbar underneath limits how far forward a chair can roll at the lowest sit height
- Cable tray is sold separately — budget for it
We bought the 48" x 30" bamboo-top Jarvis in matte black for this review and have used it as a daily desk since February. This is not a press-loaner writeup — it's what broke, what didn't, and what we'd tell a friend.
Why we picked this desk to test
Standing desks in the $500–$700 range are the most crowded part of this category, and most of them are the same frame with a different sticker. We picked the Jarvis specifically because Fully publishes its own load-testing data and because three readers asked us about the motor noise after a bad experience with a cheaper competitor.
What six months of daily use looks like
The height adjustment motor has stayed quiet the entire time — measured at roughly 45dB at the loudest point of a transition, which is quieter than a quiet conversation. We move between a 29" sit height and a 47" stand height roughly eight times a day. The memory presets have never drifted, which was a real problem on the previous desk we tested from a different brand.
The bamboo top shows some fine scuffing near the monitor arm clamp after six months, but no discoloration or warping, including after a spilled glass of water in month three.
Where it falls short
The crossbar stabilizer underneath the desk is the one real compromise: if your chair needs to roll in close at a low sitting height, it can clip the bar. We'd size up to the 60" top if your chair has a low-profile base and you sit most of the day.
Our verdict
For a small apartment where the desk has to handle both work and the occasional dinner-on-a-tray, this is the one we'd buy again. The quiet motor and the 7-year frame warranty are the two things that actually matter after the first month, once the "new desk" feeling wears off.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Jarvis sturdy at full height?
Yes — we loaded it with two monitors, a laptop stand, and a desk lamp at 48" and measured under 2mm of wobble when typing. It's noticeably stiffer than the cheaper single-motor desks we've tested.
Will it fit in a studio apartment?
The 48" top is the one we'd recommend for anything under 500 sq ft — it leaves walking room on either side in a typical studio layout.
Does it come with a warranty that actually gets honored?
We filed a test claim on a scratched panel during review and had a replacement part shipped within nine business days, no return required.
